Head Softball Coach

Stayce goes in to her first year at the helm of the Roadrunner softball program after serving as an assistant the last four seasons. Prior to that, she was the head coach at Chico High School for 12 years. From 1999 to 2010 she compiled a 216-142 record (.660 winning percentage) with 11 winning seasons, nine playoff appearances, and three trips to the section finals. During that time, numerous players went on to two year and four year college programs, including seven that competed at the Division 1 level.

Playing Career

After graduating from Tulare Union High School in Tulare CA in 1990, where she was three time all conference, two time all section, and league MVP as a senior, Stayce (Sasser) York chose Cal-State Chico to continue playing softball and major in Liberal Studies. At Chico State (1991-1994), she was second team all-conference all four seasons, and was also voted team MVP four years straight. As a pitcher, her name is all over the record books at Chico State, despite missing stats from her entire sophomore season. Stayce was inducted into the Chico State Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006. She also played for the Nor-Cal Shots, a semi-pro team out of Redding for five seasons, where she was a three time A.S.A. first team All-American.
