2009-2010 SEASON OUTLOOK

The Roadrunners had an exciting and very successful 2008-2009 season winning the Golden Valley Conference, participating in the California Community College State  Tournament, and finishing their season with an overall 22-9 record. They were led by an exceptional sophomore class who will certainly be missed. However, it is time for the Roadrunners to prepare to face a challenging 2009-2010 schedule and defend their conference title.

This season’s non-conference schedule will have the Roadrunners participating in six challenging tournaments starting with the Las Positas Tourney in Livermore November 6-8 and ending with the Allan Hancock Tourney in Santa Maria December 28-30. Along the way they will play single home games against Sierra and Santa Rosa College. The Roadrunners open their Golden Valley Conference title defense at home against a very talented Feather River squad on January 13th.

The 2009-2010 Roadrunners will be short on experience, but not on heart nor the commitment to compete, do have a talented returning core of role players from last season‘s veteran championship team and an outstanding recruiting class. Leading the core of returning players is Anthony Carter, a 5’10” point guard with solid offensive skills and jet-like quickness. Anthony played a key reserve role last season and will be counted upon heavily to lead the Roadrunners this year. He will be joined by Adam Atkins, a 6’5” “blue-collar” player who can really shoot the ball. Rounding out this returning contingent will be Tyler Troge, 6’1” , a tough and versatile player and Nate Newport 6’1”, a strong and tenacious off-guard. Last season the Roadrunners red-shirted point guard Nathaniel Bradshaw  6’0”. Nathan is very quick, a solid defender on the ball, and could help the Roadrunners this season.

The Roadrunners recruited another outstanding class who will have a chance to provide an immediate and positive impact this season.  Rex Holmes 5’10” is an exciting and outstanding combo guard from Chico High School who has excellent skills and extreme quickness. Shawn Moore 6’5” is an outstanding multi-talented player from Pleasant Valley High School in Chico. Up front the Roadrunners have two potentially strong post players in Zach Stidham 6’9” from Chico High School, and Herman Hodnett 6’9” from Las Plumas High School. Another promising freshman is Joe Howard 6’5”, a talented swing man from Hayward High School. Kendall Matthew 6’4” is a transfer from Lassen College, a solid and versatile player, could provide the Roadrunners some needed experience on the court. This season the Roadrunners will red-shirt four promising freshmen.  This class includes Lorenzo Golden 5’9”, a point guard from Inderkum High School, Anthony Taylor 6’2”, a combo guard from Chico High School,  Joe Mills, 6”5”, an exceptional shooter from Las Plumas High School and Joel Atkinson  5’10 , a point guard from Marysville High School.

The Roadrunners are gearing up for a very challenging season and invite you to follow their progress once again! GO ROADRUNNERS!
