coach jordanJeff Jordan
Head Coach

Jeff Jordan enters his sixteenth season with the Roadrunner football program having served as the offensive coordinator/quarterback coach (1999-2005) and the defensive coordinator (1998) prior to the head coach duties. During his stay here at Butte, Jordan has coached and help develop quarterbacks, Aaron Rodgers (Cal, Green Bay Packers), Brett Ratliff (Univ. of Utah/ NY Jets), Matt Ray (Troy State),  Jordan Rodgers (Vanderbilt) and Jon Hays (Utah) among others. Jordan was named the 2013 Nor Cal Conference and All Region 1 Coach of the Year. During the 2008 season Jordan was named the American Community College Football Coaches Association Coach of the Year. He was also named American Football Monthly Magazine/ Schutt Sports Coach of the Year. Jordan teaches within the Physical Education Department and also has completed course work towards his Doctorate in Education.

coach TWillie Thomas
Defensive Line Coach/Asst Head Coach

Willie Thomas will begin his 25th season on the Roadrunner staff as the defensive line coach. Coach Thomas is one of the key reasons for the outstanding defensive units during his tenure. Thomas was instrumental in the development of defensive lineman Junior Siavii (U of Oregon/Kansas City Chiefs), Jermaine Haley (Miami Dolphins), and Moke Simon (Indianapolis Colts). Coach Thomas also teaches within the Physical Education Department at Butte and serves as the athletic programs equipment technician.

coach snellingRob Snelling
Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line

Snelling enters his eigth season with the Butte Football Program after spending the 2005 season as an assistant at Arizona State University. Snelling has help develop numereous Division 1 talented offensive lineman including NFL first round pick, Danny Watkins. Snelling previously coached the wide receivers & tight ends for the Roadrunners in 2003. He also returns to his alma mater where he played tight end during the 1997-98 seasons. He brings his experience as a former Roadrunner, Division 1 student-athlete, and professional. Snelling will also serve as Head Track and Field Coach and will teach in the Physical Education Department.

Safeties/Strength & Conditioning/Special Teams

Tim enters his eleventh season with the Roadrunners and will coach the corners. He also coordinates the strength & conditoning program and special teams game. Garcia was named Samson Equipment 2013 Junior College Strength Coach of the Year. Garcia's twenty year experience, will help the Roadrunners continue their strong tradition. Garcia was responsible for running back Alex Green's (Hawaii/Green Bay Packers) development at Butte. While at Bishop Amat High School , Garcia coached quarterback Chris Rix (Florida State) and Chris Leech (USC). Tim also teaches classes with the Physical Education Department.

Coach BernalBobby Bernal
Wide Receivers

Bernal enters his seventh season with the Butte Football Program. Bernal spent the 2006 season as the Wide Receivers Coach at the University Northern Colorado. Previous to Northern Colorado, Bernal was a standout wide receiver at the University of Idaho, where he broke the Idaho single-season record for receptions with 96 (2nd nationally) en route to being named first-team All-Sun Belt Conference. He also returns to his alma mater where he played wide receiver during the 2001-03 seasons. He brings his experience as a former Roadrunner and a Division 1 student-athlete to the Roadrunner program. Bernal also serves as the Student Athlete Success Program supervisor for the Butte College Athleti9c Department.

Defensive Coordinator/Secondary 

Nino will begin his sixth year with the Roadrunners and fourth year as defensive coordinator. Pinocchio has helped Butte continue as one of the top defenses in the state. He brought his 10 years of experience as an assistant coach at Paradise HS to the Roadrunners. In those 10 years his teams produced 3 NSCIF Section Championships, 2 EAL league championships and 1 WSL championship. Nino is also the Assistant Superintendent at Butte County Juvenile Hall.

Defensive Ends/Recruiting Coordinator

Jeff joined the Roadrunner staff in 2010 after serving as an assistant coach at Yuba College for four seasons.  Previous to that he was an assistant for 10 seasons with Elk Creek High School. Jeff coached the offensive and defensive lines at Elk Creek High School and was the defensive coordinator the final 7 seasons.  Seven of the ten season the team earned a spot in the NSCIF Playoffs which includes a section Championship in 2004.  While at Yuba,  Jeff coached the defensive line. (Additionally the final two seasons he was the special teams coordinator and assistant recruiting coordinator.)  Twice in four seasons one of his players lead the state in sacks.  Jeff retired after serving 28 years in Juvenile Parole and Probation, as well as Law Enforcement.

Defensive Ends

Tom is starting his second year with the Roadrunners coaching the defensive ends. For the last 18 years he has coached at Paradise High School, and won six CIF North Section Titles. Tom is a former Butte College graduate and played for the Green Bay Packers from 1988-1990. He has been self-employed for the past twenty-five years.

Kevin York
Tight Ends


York joins the Roadrunners after spending the last two seasons as head coach at Durham High school, where he led them to two playoff appearances and a section runner-up.  Prior to that, he spent six years coaching offensive and defensive line at Chico High school.  He was the offensive coordinator and assistant head coach the last two seasons.  He has also spent time coaching at his alma-mater Truckee HS, where they are one of Nevada's most successful programs.  Coach York has been self-employed for 17 years.

Wally Funk
Running Backs/Special Teams

Wally is in his first year with the Roadrunners and will work with the running backs. He began his coaching career in 1994 at Menlo College as a student assistant and took over the linebacker and special teams positions. Before coming to Butte, Wally was fortunate to coach some high caliber athletes including two All-American, nine Academic All-State players, and several conference award winners at the JC level. In 2000, he was the assistant to the offensive coordinator for the Western Division Champion San Jose SaberCats of the AFL. Funk then returned to Menlo and was part of a team that set the NCAA (all levels) single game passing (731yds) record. He was also the run-game coordinator for a group that set school records in single game, season rushing and scoring. Four of his Menlo student-athletes earned NCAA All-American status and seven received all-region honors. He also coached at the high school level in Morgan Hill, CA where Jared Allen (Minnesota Vikings) was a special teams’ standout. In 2008, Wally was inducted into the Menlo College Hall of Fame becoming the 49th football player is school history to receive the honor.

Jon Hays
Quarterbacks

Jon is in his first year coaching Quarterbacks. He played Quarterback for Butte during the 2009 and 2010 seasons earning Nor Cal All-Conference honors in 2010. He finished his playing career at the University of Utah and helped Utah to finish 8-5 in their first season in the Pac 12 conference. He went 6-3 as a starter in his junior season at Utah including a bowl victory against Georgia Tech in the Sun Bowl where he threw 3 touchdowns. Hays also beat BYU in senior season in a game that was ranked in the top 25 best games of the 2012 season by ESPN.
