Butte College has a well-established sports medicine team that consists of certified athletic trainers, athletic training students, and team physicians. All of whom work together to ensure the proper care of our student-athletes. Butte College is equipped with a newly opened Sports Medicine Center that is the location for athletes to be evaluated and treated for athletic related injuries. The Sports Medicine staff is in place to maintain the health and well being of all of our student-athletes during their participation in Roadrunner athletics.
The Athletic Training Education Internship is designed to prepare students for a successful transfer to a four-year accredited institution by learning the appropriate procedures in the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. By transferring to an accredited institution, students can continue their education to fulfill professional requirements for the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification. All students interested in the athletic training profession have the right to work in the Sports Medicine Center under the direct supervision of a Certified Athletic Trainer in order to gain valuable experience to ensure acceptance to an Athletic Training Education Program of their choice.
