Civil War Days

On October 13 and 14, 2007, the Butte College Foundation and the

Butte College Night at the Chico Outlaws

Butte College's 40th Anniversary Night at the Chico Outlaws was a huge success! Thanks to everyone who came out to support us at this event. From Mike Station's performance of the national anthem to the first pitch thrown by President Diana Van Der Ploeg, to Katie Hansen's victory over Magian Smith in a between-innings baserunning competition, it was truly fantastic to see so much of the Butte College family in action. Annual Scholarship Reception

The Annual Scholarship Reception was held on August 20, 2007 for students who have received scholarships for the 2007-2008 school year. The reception at the Everett Brott Student Center (Campus Center) on the main Butte College Campus was well-attended by students, friends and family. Scholarship donors and recipients had the opportunity to meet in person, and students were recognized for their academic achievements. To see photos from this event, click here.

Spring Gala

The March 10th, 2007 Spring Gala, Butte College's annual black tie event, was held at the Bell Memorial Union on the California State University, Chico campus. This is our biggest, most fabulous fundraiser of the year, with proceeds supporting the Butte College Foundation and the Athletics Department. The annual Butte College Retirees Luncheon was held on the main Butte College campus on November 6, 2006. Past faculty, staff, and administrators of Butte College toured the college's newest facilities and were treated to lunch in the Campus Center. President's Cup Golf Tournament

The 2nd Annual President's Cup Golf Tournament took place at Butte Creek Country Club in Chico on Monday, September 25, 2006. This event was an 18-hole, four-person scramble, and featured a barbecue luncheon, raffle, contests, prizes and much more! For more information on the tournament, click here. Annual Scholarship Reception

The Annual Scholarship Reception was held on August 21, 2006 at the Everett Brott Student Center on the main Butte College campus. For the 2006/2007 school year, the Foundation is awarding 155 scholarships, totaling over $80,000. This year is a milestone for the Butte College Foundation in that it has now cumulatively awarded over 1,600 scholarships totaling over $1 million. These scholarships have come from individual donations and fundraising activities, as well as from scholarship endowments currently maintained in the Foundation.

Commencement

Despite dark clouds and chilly temperatures, Butte College's class of 2006 stayed dry and cheerful as they were awarded degrees in the 37th annual commencement ceremonies on May 26, 2006.

In total, the college awarded 704 associate of arts degrees and 371 associate in science degrees this year, Butte College President Diana Van Der Ploeg told the audience at the John Cowan Sports Complex.

Butte College alumnus Ken Grossman, founder and owner of Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, also addressed the crowd of students, alumni, family and friends.

The regular commencement ceremony was in addition to separate ceremonies held Friday for graduates of the respiratory therapy and firefighter programs. Graduations for the college's welding and registered-nursing programs were held Thursday.
